If this is what happens when you play in the World Series...

... then I'm glad I can't hit a ball to save my life.

Or something to that effect.

Keep it in perspective...

I read today's story on CNN about how Gretzky was saying the Canadian team wasn't playing with enough passion. (I also dutifully note that this story was a couple days late, and likely only made the CNN main page because of the Great One's recent scandal implications. Yet I digress) While I agree with him to a certain extent, I think the Men's team has WAY too much pressure on them this year to bring home the Gold.

Don't think for one second that I don't believe we have the best hockey players in the world. I think we have a team that is fully capable of beating anyone out there. The problem is that so do other countries. Men's hockey is so unbelievably rich in talent for about half a dozen countries that any of them could take the gold without surprising anyone. The "problem" with Canada is that we tend to think that the gold is rightfully ours. If we don't win the gold, why bother going?

I think we need someone to step up and give an Esposito-esque rant sometime in the near future. I feel that we, the hockey fans, have no right to complain about the team losing a couple games while getting the rust out.

If we get shutout 4-0 or something like that in a playoff game, then it's a different story.

Odd, isn't it?

Well, I'm another year older now, and I sort of feel it. I'm going to make a few New Year resolutions (in honour of MY new year upcoming!)

1. Not take anything for granted. Especially my friends.

2. Post here more often. I see I get a lot of hits (400 or so in the past month) and so I don't want to let any of my 'readers' down.

3. Be happy with what I've got. I'm living a damned good life. It's about time I acted like it.

4. Discover 'Tact'. A lot of time I hold things in when I should just say them. Sometimes, I say things when I shouldn't. Both just lead to awkwardness down the road.

I could probably find a few more things to put here, but for the time being, I'm going to leave it at that. These cover the major things, and if I can manage to keep these resolutions, I'll be doing pretty damned good!
